  • 1 cup (200 ml) of washed white rice
  • 2 cups (400 ml) of boiling water
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 of an onion, chopped
  • Olive oil, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the garlic and onion until softened.
  3. Add the washed rice and fry for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the boiling water and salt.
  5. Reduce heat, cover the pan, and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
  6. Turn off the heat, let stand for 5 minutes with the lid closed, and then serve.

Options:

  • For fluffier rice, use 2 1/4 cups (500 ml) of water.
  • For creamier rice, use 1 3/4 cups (425 ml) of water.
  • Add chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or chives, at the end of cooking.
  • Serve with stir-fried vegetables, shredded chicken, or ground meat.

Tips:

  • Rinse the rice in running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming sticky.
  • Do not stir the rice while it’s cooking. This can make it sticky.
  • If the rice gets too dry, add a little more hot water and cook for a few more minutes.
